I attempted to do a Sims picture but...

I made this instead.

Between Sea and Sky by =LibertineMedic on deviantART

I just cannot do simpose pictures anymore. I'm grateful for the practice that the contests gave me, but I think I'm done with sims pictures for good. They just seem like dead paper dolls. *sigh*

This weekend was really really long. Aside from having to deal with the windshield debacle, I also had to go to a wedding for one of my first cousins. It was really really weird seeing all these adults with hints of their young kid faces. I hope I didn't look as odd to them. The wedding site said to leave kids home, so we did... and promptly got reamed for leaving him at home with his daddy. OH WELL.

It was a LONG drive from Eugene to Bend. I was hoping to avoid my chronic car sickness so I ate lightly and only had water and a Bellini. Didn't matter. I still puked my guts out about 15 minutes from home in some poor homeowner's lawn barrow pit. Yummy, garlic linguini two times!

OH! And my new dress split apart at one of the seams so I had to REATTACH my skirt to the bodice with a Safeway travel sewing kit 15 minutes before the ceremony. THANK GOD I'm quick with a needle. It looked like the seam hadn't been serged and the fabric just frayed away from the stitching, quality JC Penney craftsmanship.

I did like seeing everyone and I had to peel my sister off the dance floor. When they start passing around the Boone's Strawberry Hill in a communal bottle... it's time to head home.

Some days you just want to shave your legs.

I do wonder how my legs managed to grow hair that is as dark and long as my eyebrows. That's really just wrong.
I tried on a new swimsuit that I found on the clearance rack for the family at home and the reactions were varied. It's a halter top, chocolate brown on the bottom with a sewn in red polka-dot ribbon under the breast cups... the breast cups are white and brown ZEBRA stripe. It's a LOUD swimsuit with excellent boobage support. We're talking major cheesecake cleavage with uplift and cradling. My husband declared it the ugliest thing ever and that I would clear the pool with it. James squeaked and shoved his head under his blanket, then ran away like Charlie Brown in a ghost costume and hid under his bunk bed tent.

The verdict? I LIKE IT and I plan to wear it when we go to Edgefield. It will be perfect drink cocktails in plastic cups while soaking in this: Ruby's Soaking Pool

Fridays are tough

I have a problem with almost being late to work on Fridays because I enjoy playing on my tablet too much itn the morning. I really really really want to play hooky, but that would violate my disgustingly loyal work ethic.  Poop.

I'm working on a picture for [info]sisterite . She gave me a great character study to work from. I'm following the Vintage portrait tutorial that was in my Corel painter magazine and I'm having pretty good luck with it. :D It helps that the stock model is ADORABLE. (It's totally different than the picture I showed her though.) TOO CUTE.  Lots of drawing, cloning and blending in this and I'm ITCHING to get home and start on it. Too bad the family required dinner, can't they be part air-plant?

Oh, and we took everything that was ever Sims 2 off the machine and defragged last night. *POOOF!*

My art folder was only about 10 gigs... Perhaps I should cut down on the number of versions that I save  3000 x 3000 pixel at 300 dpi images at. *innocent whistle*

If anyone wants to do an art trade or has an idea for a picture that they want me to try, let me know. I'm constantly looking for themes and inspiration and I'd love to do things for people I like!  Don't be shy!

I'm in love with Painter X. We're running away together and making pretty babies.

So this morning it was so hard to drag myself away from my computer because I was having so much fun with Painter. I'm working on a contest entry for a 'Greek Mythology' contest and I saw a stock image that just SCREAMED at me. "Why hello there, you must be Circe!"  fav.me/d24uk10

So I got my picture laid out and the nice thing about the technique that I'm playing with in Painter is that I can use the photo clone brushes to bring up the details for the tonal sketch. It's an utter bitch to draw curly hair. I have to remind myself to not get in a hurry with the details.

Painter has this awesome feature. Imagine that you have a magical pencil. You can change this pencil's size, hardness and smoothness at a whim. That's cool, but now you also have a magical sheet of PAPER. You can make the grain and texture of the paper as rough, as smooth or fine as you want to! It's so much easier to make a grayscale image and then colorize it, than to start with color.

I love this program. We're going to get in such trouble together.

"That's SO GROSS!" and "Vroom Vroom"

First of all, the milk didn't SMELL bad, but it was chunky-style in the cup after I took a swig. *BARF! BARF!*

Secondly, I have discovered how I will get my exercise this summer. I will be chasing after James on his new bike. www.bluestarbrewing.com/bikes/electras/kids-ratrod-20.jpg That is the new bike. James only almost rolled out into traffic ONCE. MOMMY PANIC! AHHHH!

The weather is cooling down a bit, so I'm looking forward to cooking dinner again. I really want to make corn on the cob, green beans and some sort of red meat tonight. :D

IT IS TOO HOT.

When it is 75 degrees at 8 am... that's just not right. They are calling for a possible high of 105 today. I'm considering imploding at that point.

I wore a swimsuit that had an attached modesty skirt/veil/chub cover and that extra fabric FLOATS. So I had to tuck it in my leg elastic to avoid looking like Ophelia drowning in the reeds.

Not cooking during the heat has made everyone gain weight, at least a couple of pounds. Hence the chub cover.

I'm tired and cranky, so of course I get to train the new kid. AWESOME. Remind me that that summer doesn't last forever.

Jul. 27th, 2009

I think the planet is trying to cook me in my own delicious juices.

On a cooler note, I want to start an Asylum Challenge and actually take pictures of it. I think the inmate will have clever names like Alpha, Beta, Zetta etc... :P Sort of Dollhouse-ish. I hate that I'll have to manually resize all thpics though, because my PS Elements doesn't support actions like the cool kids do. I could brighten, blur and blow out all the pictures though, that seems INCREDIBLY popular at the moment. :P

Blargh!

This morning I attempted the AwesomeMod/ Indiestone combo and my game only crashed on start-up once!
The link that is in the [info]simply_sims3 post down loads the IndieStoneCORE package and after reading the sticky on MTS I can see that this is fail. Currently the AwesomeMod is working great. When I get home, I'm updating with a new IndieStoneMod.package from MTS, because I really like the little pop-ups that tell you about the other sims' lives. I like seeing that Roxie and Omar's children are making grandchildren for them. I just wish I'd found these mods sooner, because they lost so many relationship points when I switched househoulds. :(

My name is Lana and I'm addicted to True Blood. I'm afraid to read the books, because I don't want them to be not as awesome as the television show.

I hope that Bill gets staked though. BOOOOOORING Bill.

Also, tonight is Hells Kitchen. This is a MOTHERF*CKING GOOD THING! STUPID DONKEYS!! *cough*
It's too hot to use the Cintiq. It freaks out and turns itself off. I'd rather not break my favorite toy.  So no art until after the heatwave. :D

KABOOM!

I always become sleep-deprived on the 4th of July weekend. There is a group of crazies that like to use the park next to our place as a launching pad for giant mortars so at 2 am there was still KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM!

So of course I dreamed that I was in high school again, running for my life from the invading Russian army and there was Patrick Swayze leading the charge and then I had to finish a term paper and run run run run.... I woke up exhausted. If Josh's man-butt isn't in bed with me I have incredibly vivid night terrors. So I can tell even half-awake that he fell asleep on the couch. After 14 years together, I NEED HIM TO SLEEP.

I think I'll try to stow away in the library at lunch to take a snooze.  Its going to be too hot to sleep in the car.

OH! I got my first 'Oh we think you're so good at art that we want you to develop content for us for free!" deviantArt note. HAHAHAHAHAHA! For free huh? *wipes tear away* Oh that's rich.

http://www.zug.com/live/81557/The-Alli-Experiment.html

How much of the diet drug Alli do you have to take before you poop your pants?

A year ago, I embraced the Eat to Live diet by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, which is based on the two rules most dieters fear most: common sense and nutrition. Here are the guidelines I follow:

- Eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible. I try for four fruits a day, and eat a variety of beans and greens. (I sometimes refer to it as the "beans 'n' greens diet.")

- Salad is the primary dish for lunch and dinner. This means I eat a huge-ass salad almost every meal, with a side of something. Often beans.

- Whole grain cereal with fruit is the primary dish for breakfast. I make something called the "Hargrave porridge," which is an enormous bowl of oatmeal with fruits and nuts.

- For snacking, I stick with fruits, nuts and seeds. Often I pretend I'm a squirrel.

- I avoid dairy, breads, carbs, processed foods, alcohol, and mescalin
