So this morning it was so hard to drag myself away from my computer because I was having so much fun with Painter. I'm working on a contest entry for a 'Greek Mythology' contest and I saw a stock image that just SCREAMED at me. "Why hello there, you must be Circe!"
fav.me/d24uk10So I got my picture laid out and the nice thing about the technique that I'm playing with in Painter is that I can use the photo clone brushes to bring up the details for the tonal sketch. It's an utter bitch to draw curly hair. I have to remind myself to not get in a hurry with the details.
Painter has this awesome feature. Imagine that you have a magical pencil. You can change this pencil's size, hardness and smoothness at a whim. That's cool, but now you also have a magical sheet of PAPER. You can make the grain and texture of the paper as rough, as smooth or fine as you want to! It's so much easier to make a grayscale image and then colorize it, than to start with color.
I love this program. We're going to get in such trouble together.
